Head Coach Tyler Vann
On January 18, 2024, Tyler Vann was hired as the new head football coach at Scottsboro High School. Vann, at 29 years of age, becomes the second-youngest head coach in Scottsboro football history. Vann served as an assistant at Scottsboro in 2018 under head coach Don Jacobs. Vann is married to his beautiful wife, Hannah (Vest) and they have a son named Kydon.
Vann graduated from North Sand Mountain High School in 2013, playing quarterback for the Bison and being recognized with honorable mention all-state honors. After graduation, he continued his football career at Jacksonville State University. Vann began his coaching career as a volunteer at his alma mater prior to accepting an assistant job at Arab High School. Other stops as an assistant came at Scottsboro and Buckhorn.
Vann was hired as the head coach at Woodville for the 2020 season, taking the Panthers to the Class 1A playoffs, finishing with a record of 5-6 and tying the school record for most wins in a single season. Following the 2020 season, Sylvania came calling and Vann was hired to lead the Rams program. In three years at Sylvania, his teams went 8-3, 10-4, and 10-3, reaching post-season in all three years. His 2023 squad claimed the Region Championship, their fifth in school history. With a career mark of 33-16, Vann's teams have posted a combined region record of 21-5 and his offenses have consistently excelled, averaging 31.7 points per game overall and 34.9 points per game in crucial region matchups.
